Not Awesome

The book was okay. I'm a huge Beauty & Beast fan and dive into the retellings no matter the reviews. I don't regret reading it, but it wasn't awesome.

What disappointed me:
1. Expecting more tension and romance between the characters
2. How selfish her sisters were - they just seemed overdone in their selfishness, they seemed like animals not people with how bad they treated their sister and father, no realism behind this at all
3. How passive her fathers were - his extreme passivity just didn't seem realistic and trust me I really know how to stretch my imagination

My Biggest Peeve:
1. I'm very turned off the author due to how she set this book and subsequent 'series' up.
Explanation:
1. This isn't a series - this is a serial. The author has blatantly charged her fans 3 times for something that should have just been one book.
I read another series/serial by her other name Melissa Haag and she did the same thing! It's a total turn off because I feel like I'm being fleeced. Because of her business practices I don't think I can continue to read her novels. TOTAL TURN OFF.

I got annoyed with "Beauty" a bit

I got annoyed with "Beauty" a bit. Mild SPOILERS ahead.

She wasn't actually raped, yet she became so fearful of sex you'd think she was. You'd think she'd warm up a bit after a while, especially because what she experienced prior to her attacks were good.
And then with all of the sexual tension, we only get one quick sex scene. Over the course of 3 books of tension. So I was hoping for either one really good scene....or a few scenes.

I got annoyed that it took her so long to trust in the beast's love for her.

That by the end of it, when the two finally got together, it wasn't as sweet for me emotionally.

Overall, the series is a decent series.

It was a sweet and delicious finish to a brilliant adult fairy tale! Melissa Haag has a way of spinning a tale that takes you to another world and makes you want to live there. Her characters are filled with such depth that you even feel a little sorry for the ones you don't like. There were moments that I found my heart palpitating to think that she would actually allow her characters to go through some of the difficult situations they experienced. But, there were definitely laugh-out-loud humorous moments too. The romantic scenes were tastefully done without being uncomfortably graphic, which couldn't have been easy given the "beastie" appetites. I truly appreciated the fact that the entire third volume centered around the relationships after the curse was lifted. All the little nuances, Benella observed, made each character recognizable after being changed back from their previous state.

In the end, with all of the frightening circumstances and the lessons that needed to be learned, by each of the characters, it was a charming take on a beloved fairy tale. Welcome to the world of adult romance, Melissa Haag! I think, you're going to fit right in!

There is virtually no organ or tissue that is not affected, directly or indirectly, by the hormones that are secreted by the anterior and posterior pituitary. Pituitary dysfunction is a common clinical scenario. However, the manifestations of pituitary disease vary from florid clinical features that can readily be identified and recognized as pituitary in etiology, to more subtle and nonspecific problems that are often overlooked or misdiagnosed, leaving the relationship to pituitary malfunction unnoticed. The former�--conditions such as florid acromegaly and Cushing's disease--are only a minority of pituitary pathologies, hence the misconception that pituitary disease is rare. The most common disorder is the pituitary adenoma, a lesion that is increasingly recognized as a highly prevalent finding identified in up to 20% of the population. Although many of these are considered to be incidental findings, many have unrecognized impact on fertility, longevity and quality of life, and their clinical significance is increasingly gaining attention. Moreover, the management of these lesions has seen major changes with the development of new pharmacotherapeutic agents, improved minimally invasive surgical approaches and targeted radiotherapeutic techniques. There has been significant progress in understanding pituitary development, physiology and pathology. The classification of pituitary disease is becoming easier, and as targeted therapies are being developed, the role of the pathologist in determining accurate diagnoses is increasingly important. The surgical pathologist must therefore recognize the important role of morphologic analysis in classifying sellar pathology for the diagnosis and management of the pituitary patient.

A good text, but could use some work

This is a relatively good text. It provides a good overview of research methodology, but it does have problems. Specifically, it can be a little hard to follow at times. One of my main complaints is that the author uses really nice graphic organizers, but does not number them. It would be much easier to follow if the graphic organizers and the paragraphs in the text had matching numbers, letters, etc. Also, sometimes the author changes the order of the paragraphs. The graphic organizer will be listed one way, but the paragraphs will be listed another way. Overall, I like the text, but I think it could be even better with some additional editing. On the positive side, I do like the addition of the sidebars in this edition. They help significantly with understanding.

I was forced to buy this high-priced textbook for a class.

Knowing that, here are the book's good qualities:

Quite a bit of research and statistical knowledge is somewhat easily indexed at the beginning of each chapter - often with a graphic organizer. If you need Common Knowledge and Research Statistics for Dummies written out ad nauseum, then this is the book for you.

Areas for improving this book:

Condense the overall text greatly; find an overall focus. Sadly, some colleges make students read an ENTIRE text rather than pick out the important material.
Include at least the real process to perform practical research assignments.
Learn the meaning of a robust statistic and why it's important.

Hard to understand

I found this book to be a hard read. When I purchased this book, I also had to purchase another one for the same class. The other book I purchased presented the same information in an easier to understand vocabulary. The purpose of this book was to introduce educators to doing their own educational research within their peer review audience. It gave the steps you needed to take to examine different issues that you felt were important in your classroom and school that needed to be researched as "problems."

SCOTT COLEMAN became a quadriplegic due to a water skiing accident at the age of seventeen. After months of rehabilitation Scott returned to high school and graduated the following spring. Four years later, he graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in finance and economics and began a career helping families and small business owners diversify their investment portfolios. Scott currently lives in Olive Branch, Mississippi, with Linda, his wife of twenty-six years.

Just received and read Scott's book. I couldn't put it down! Thanks for sharing your story with the world. We are Best when Broken and need daily reminders to put our faith and trust in God, He holds the future. I'm passing this on for my husband and sons to read next and highly recommend it for the whole family, especially if you have teenagers.

Scott and Linda's journey over the years is one that is amazing and you can't be anything but inspired by it. Scott you are just a real person and this shows you really have always been. Down to earth and a true testimony of what can be accomplished if a person can focus. You have a story to tell and yes, it is HIS story told through you.

Amazing

In one week, this little book has become the one begged for nightly by our children. With Mr Morpurgo's recrafting of the Christmas story from the p-o-v of a shepherd boy, we are transported, too, on angel wings and reminded that God cares for all of us and is with us right where we are. On Angel Wings is charming, and will be one excitedly pulled down from the shelf year after year.

My 5 yr old daughter got this for Christmas from her Grandmother. I was really impressed by the pictures; they are bright and imaginative. The story is compelling, fun and rich.

On Angel Wings is an unexpectedly beautiful bit of Christmas literature, accompanied by the remarkable and utterly unique art of Quentin Blake. I always have trouble delineating books into 'age appropriate' groups, maybe because noone even told me what I could or couldn't, should or shouldn't, read. This is a book I would recommend to readers (or listener) of any age. The book is related to the nativity, but I believe that it transcends religious beliefs. Still, if it is given as a gift, it would probably be best to give it to a Christian- their familiarity with other stories that put them in a better position to enjoy Michael Morpurgo's (the author of Wsr Horse) work.
