About the Author
Dr. Bret Wagner is associate professor and director of Western Michigan University's Integrated Supply Matrix Management program. Dr. Wagner received his Ph.D. in Operations Management from Michigan State University and has published a number of articles on topics in production planning and scheduling. He has been involved in the integration of ERP software into business curriculum since 1998.

Ellen F. Monk has been teaching Information Systems at the Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware since 1989. Prior to her teaching career, Dr. Monk worked as a chemical engineer for Engelhard Industries and W. R. Grace and Co.'s Davison Chemical Division. She has a B.S. degree in chemical engineering, an MBA, and a Ph.D. in MIS.

Kindle edition is just a big pdf

I'm not speaking on the quality of a book as a whole; I'm talking about the eBook version here.

The kindle edition of this book is just a gigantic PDF file. You're not permitted to read this on anything other than physical kindle devices or tablets. No Web reader, no phones.

Because it's not a true kindle book, every page is basically like reading an image. Trying to increase the font size essentially is like zooming in on a picture of text; it's not reformatted to fix the new font size. Reading this on a 7" tablet is extremely awkward and, frankly, painful. It might be more doable on a full sized iPad or 10" Android tablet. While there were warnings of what type of devices this was supported on, there was no message before purchase that said something like "this is just a garbage pdf file, are you sure you want to waste $75 on this?".

What crap.

Save yourself the trouble, get the physical book if you have to get this.

The complete work of ERP explanation

While they are hundred of SAP or BAAN or J.D. Edwards or Oracle books in the market, only few books were really written in "ERP context". Fortunately, this book is one of few.
The teaching experience told Brady and Monk that "teaching SAP application" to business students was not sufficient to make students understand the "concept of ERP". This is the impression for them to write this book. The foundation of ERP are addressed in business process perspectives; and then, mapped to the ERP process. One "BIG" case-study is used to describe the ERP component, with respect to SAP R/3 system. However, the fundamental is not limited to SAP package since extensions are also provided.
The uniqueness of this book is the combination of "O'Leary's book (ISBN 0521791529)" and "Jacobs & Whybark (ISBN 0072400897)". Like "Why ERP? by Jacobs and Whybark", Brady and Monk use a single case study to describe the ERP in "formal format" (not in novel as Why ERP). Like "O'Leary's book", this book gives the fundamental to understand ERP rather than "implementation of specific package".
Unlike "Why ERP", this book is the formal textbook, very easy to read textbook, not a novel. Unlike "O'Leary's book", this book is the explanation of ERP and interaction of business process, instead of implemenation and outline.
Another major advantage of this book is the easy-well-written is in 200 pages. Graduate students or passion-readers may finish it in one night. This book is also good for ERP introduction (1-3 meetings) for any Production/Operation Management classes or Supply Chain Management.
One thing that I'd like to see more is the "reference". While this book is quite comprehensive, the reference are limited to the CIO ([...] instead of many existed publications. I wish the authors would do more research in this area and put additional reference in the context in the next edition.

Deeps Iyer puts fantastic spotlights on individuals and communities across America who are actively pursuing the more perfect Union our country should represent. She shares truthful histories of tragedy and triumph, and brilliantly discusses how modern everyday South Asians, Arabs, Muslims, and Sikhs can transform American realities. There is no single approach for success, and Ms. Iyer explores the complexities of causes, identity, and activism that all of us as "brown folks" (my term, not hers) encounter. I'm fired up and eager to engage in more social justice movements after reading this.

This book really helped me understand the history and continuing reality of personal and structural discrimination against South Asian, Arab, Muslim, and Sikh people in the U.S. Deepa Iyer's combination of historical fact (e.g. U.S. security and immigration policies) and their intersections in real people's lives made for a powerful call to action on behalf of all concerned parties to organize for justice. I felt both educated and impassioned with a sense of urgency to take steps to defeat white supremacy, although it benefits me personally, to ensure a safe and prosperous environment for everyone in our community.

Deepa Iyer 's book, We Too Sing America is the best book for better, comprehensive, and more nuanced understandings underscored by important solid qualitative and quantitative data, on South Asian, Arab, Muslim and Sikh immigrants and how these great American populations must be included in our thoughts, policies, actions, and empathies if we are to achieve American aspirations such as equality, equity, freedom, and truly value the greatness of these individuals and cultures to our own professional, community, and personal lives.

Falt� domar un poco m�s a los personajes

Es una nota de 3,5/5 la verdad. Este libro me fue enviado realizar un review.

Este libro tiene muchas cosas buenas, como por ejemplo, personajes muy s�lidos como protagonistas, que son consecuentes con lo que nos muestran durante todo el libre, tienen personalidades llamativas. Cada protagonista tiene una historia de trasfondo, lo que los hace m�s cre�ble y en mi opini�n le da una buena base a la historia. Tambi�n el giro en la trama es muy bueno, es algo que se espera, pero a la vez no.

A la vez,es importante destacar la buena escritura de la autora, fue un libro entretenido, f�cil de leer, fluido y tambi�n sorprendente lo que se logr� en tan pocas p�ginas.

A pesar de todas estas cualidades, creo que se podr�a haber hecho mucho m�s, desde todos los puntos de vista: el largo de la historia, uno o dos pasajes no solo eran clich�, sino que sent� que ya los hab�a le�do antes de la misma forma, exactamente id�nticos en otros libros.
Este libro ten�a todo lo necesario para ser un excelente libro rom�ntico, pero simplemente le falt�. Con personajes como esos, tanto principales como secundarios, con las historias pasadas, con la guerra, con el contexto hist�rico y con el talento de la autora, creo que se podr�a haber sido mucho mejor.

Este libro me fue enviado para realizar una rese�a honesta.

Debo decir que me llev� una gran sorpresa con este libro, no ten�a ning�n tipo de expectativas y la verdad que me termin� gustando mucho.
Es una historia corta que en parte es una l�stima ya que tiene mucho contexto hist�rico que se podr�a haber aprovechado m�s y hubiera alargado el libro, pero creo que el objetivo de la autora no era darle tanta importancia a esos temas, sino que quiso centrarse m�s en contar la historia de dos personajes heridos por esas circunstancias dolorosas de la �poca.
Est� escrita de cierta forma para que la lectura sea ligera y no se torne pesada ni aburrida. Es conciso, va a las escenas claves, es verdad, el amor entre los protagonistas se da muy r�pido, porque no es un libro que va con muchos rodeos por ende no hay cap�tulos de relleno con el fin de alargar el libro as� que eso me pareci� un punto a favor. 
Al principio pens� que iba a detestar al personaje de Magnus, es un libertino, pero reconozco que le termin� tomando cari�o. Me gust� mucho el personaje de Effie, es una mujer fuerte, leal, con sus propias convicciones.
Es un libro cargado de erotismo, pero creo que tiene lo justo y necesario seg�n lo requiere la historia, no coloca escenas de sexo para rellenar, todas tienen una raz�n ya sea para caracterizar a un personaje como para el desenlace de la historia.
Y como toda novela de esta �poca, nos muestra las traiciones, enga�os, envidias, amores, lujuria, el deseo de venganza, el honor, el poder, entre otras…
Es una linda lectura para cuando se quiere pasar leyendo algo r�pido y breve.

About the Author
James B. Nance has taught at Logos School since 1990, where he currently teaches logic, rhetoric, calculus, physics, and Christian doctrine. He is also the author of Intermediate Logic for Christian and Home Schools. James and his wife Giselle have four children.

Douglas J. Wilson holds an M.A. in philosophy and is pastor of Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho, board member of Logos School, and editor of Credenda/Agenda magazine. He is the author of several books on classical Christian education, including Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning, Repairing the Ruins: The Classical and Christian Challenge to Education (editor), The Paideia of God and Other Essays on Education, and The Case for Classical Christian Education. He and his wife Nancy have three children and nine grandchildren.

Julia Golding’s debut novel, The Diamond of Drury Lane, won the Nestl� Children’s Book Prize and the Ottakar’s Children’s Book Prize in the U.K. She lives in Oxford, England. Wow - exciting book

I am a parent, presumably reading this series to preview it for my kids. But I am enjoying it so much. I found this book to be even more exciting than the first. It is the continuation of Connie's life as she learns to deal with being a universal. She learns that along with special gifts comes great responsibility. I love the action in this book as well as the messages. It has a wonderful environmental message, without coming off as too preachy. The book delivers messages about taking care of your friends, taking responsibility for your own actions, environmental awareness, and accepting people for who they are. Although it is a kids book, I enjoyed it enough to run out and grab the next one.

Julia Golding continues The Companion Quartet with its second volume "The Gorgon's Gaze." The novel's young protagonist, Connie Lionheart, is still learning to deal with her role as a "universal." Targeted toward readers age 10 and older, "The Gorgons Gaze" is intelligently written - it does not talk down to younger readers and is not so simplistic that it will bore older readers.

"The Gorgons Gaze" does contain a strong environmental message, but it is not preachy or bombastic in conveying that information. Readers and parents who enjoy books with a message will find this novel quite a treat.

Julia Golding does a nice job of bringing necessary information from the first volume of The Companion's Quartet into "The Gorgons Gaze". While it is helpful to have read the first book in this series, it is not absolutely necessary to have done so. Language and situations contained in "The Gorgons Gaze" are appropriate for all ages.

This is a near-perfect book for parents and kids. We all enjoyed it in my house. It's fun and light yet gripping with mystery and intrigue. It makes the reader want to continue and continue and nothing else matters, completely captivating us and taking us out of the daily grind.

Very good for learning

This book is a shortened version of "Learning and Practising Econometrics (1993)", which itself is a shortened version of "The Theory and Practice of Econometrics (1982)".
Hill's "Undergraduate Econometrics" instills understanding by slowly going through derivations and principles, while at the same time motivating econometric analysis by referring to economic situations where it can be used. Much better than Gujarati (which tends to be a "cookery book" rather than giving an integrated treatment).
The book both motivates the student and takes them through the steps and methods they will need to adopt in further econometric studies, and always provides a good reference (often to one of the parent books mentioned above) when it omits proofs and other details.
The only weakness of the book reveals what is (to my mind) an unhealthy preoccupation with estimation issues, as opposed to those of data quality. As people like Granger have consistently pointed out, the real issues in 21st century econometrics have to do with what sort of data we have, and what methods are most appropriate in different situations. Despite this, Hill et al almost exclusively dwell on the identically and independently distributed (iid) specification. However, I should point out in the book's defence that this preoccupation is shared by most other introductory (and graduate) textbooks on econometrics.
The book's good points far outweigh these weaknesses. Finally, the second edition has some updates, and discusses such developments as time series econometrics. "Undergraduate Econometrics" should definitely be purchased by anyone wishing to learn about modern empirical methods.

Excellent intuition BUT A POOR BRIDGE TO THE DREADFUL GREENE

This book is the best book to use for the very first course in econometrics. It takes you by the hand to teach you all you need in terms of the basics.
I only give it 4 stars for two reasons. First, while this book is non-mathematical (and I agree with that) it should have nonetheless appendices that make use of matrices and differential calculus.
Second, this book is extremely expensive.
This book can easily earn 5 stars if in the next edition it contains appendices that will create a bridge towards intermediate econometrics. A more reasonable price would also be welcomed.
Overall, this is the best book to use for a very first course in econometrics.
BUT BEWARE: THIS BOOK IS A POOR BRIDGE TO THE DREADFUL GREENE!!!!THE BEST BRIDGE IS "LEARNING AND PRACTICING ECONOMETRICS" BY THE SAME AUTHOURS OF "UNDERGRADUATE ECOMETRICS" I.E. HILL, GRIFFITHS, AND JUDGE.
By the way, for those that are looking for a good substitue to "Undergraduate Econometrics", you have "Basic Econometrics" by Gujarati.
